Privacy Policy

This page explains what this website stores, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to be read, not to be skipped.

The short version: we do not track you, we do not run advertising, we do not use analytics, and we do not sell or share your details with anyone. The only information we hold is what you give us on purpose: a message through the contact form, or an account if you choose to create one.

What we keep on your device

The first time you visit, a notice asks whether we may use your device's storage. If you accept, this website saves the following on your own computer or phone. It never leaves your device unless you place an order or sign in.

• Your basket. What you have added and how many, so it is still there when you come back.
• Your session. If you sign in, a token that keeps you signed in so you do not have to type your password on every page.
• Your answer to the notice itself, so we do not ask again on every visit.
• Whether the opening animation has already played, so you only see it once per visit. This one is cleared the moment you close the tab.

If you decline, the website still works. Your basket is kept in memory for as long as the tab is open and is forgotten when you close it.

There are no advertising cookies, no tracking pixels and no analytics scripts on this website. Nobody is counting your visits.

The contact form

When you write to us through the form, we receive your first name, last name, email address and your message, as an email to support@okocaribe.com. We use it to answer you, and nothing else. Your message is not added to any mailing list.

If you create an account

An account is entirely optional — you can browse the whole website and contact us without one. If you do create one, we hold:

• Your email address and password. The password is stored encrypted and we cannot read it, not even us.
• Your name and phone number, if you fill them in.
• Your delivery addresses: name, phone, street, city, province, country and any notes you add.
• Your orders: the items, the price at the time you ordered, the total, the status and the delivery address.

You only ever see your own data. Another customer cannot reach it, and the rule that enforces that is applied by the database itself, not by this website.

Orders through WhatsApp

Orders are completed over WhatsApp. When you press the order button, your basket is put into a WhatsApp message that you send us yourself. That conversation is between you and us, and it is subject to WhatsApp's own privacy terms, which we do not control.

Other companies involved

Running a website means a few other companies necessarily see something. These are all of them:

• Hostinger hosts this website. Like any web server, it keeps standard access records, which include the IP address of whoever makes a request.
• Supabase holds the accounts database described above. If you never create an account, nothing of yours is stored there.
• Google in two places: our company email runs on Google Workspace, so any message you send us passes through it; and the Location page includes an embedded Google map, which means Google sees the IP address of anyone who opens that page. If you would rather not, the address is written out on that same page and you can look it up yourself.
• WhatsApp, only when you press one of the WhatsApp buttons.

The typeface, the images and the code of this website are all served from our own server. Opening any page other than Location does not connect you to a single outside company.

How long we keep things

Contact form messages stay in our inbox for as long as they are useful to answer you and keep track of the conversation. Account data stays until you ask us to delete it. What is stored on your device stays until you clear your browser data or ask us to remove your account.

What you can ask us to do

Write to support@okocaribe.com and you can ask us to:

• tell you what we hold about you;
• correct anything that is wrong;
• delete your account and everything attached to it;
• send you a copy of your data.

We will do it, and we will not ask you why. Give us a few working days.

Children

This website is meant for businesses and adults buying cocoa and chocolate. We do not knowingly collect anything from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to us and we will remove it.

Changes to this page

If we change how any of this works, we will change this page and update the date at the top. There is no small print elsewhere: what you have just read is the whole of it.
